Wedding Cakes With Dried Flowers

Inspiration

If you love flowers but are looking for a unique wedding cake, dried flowers could be the thing for you.

Wedding cakes with fresh flowers have been on trend for a few years but lately, as dried flowers have started to get more and more on trend, I’ve played with them on cakes – sometimes on their own, and sometimes mixed with fresh flowers.

  • A watercolour wedding cake with a mix of dried and fresh flowers

A watercolour handpainted wedding cake with five tiers, fresh and dried flowers.

I created this cake and dessert table for a wedding at Garthmyll Hall, in Wales. By painting it watercolour and adorning it with a mix of fresh and dried flowers – dried ferns, lunaria, ranunculus and roses – it had a romantic and soft feel.

  • Two cakes for one wedding

The first cake I created for this wedding was white and textured and had a mix of roses and dried branches. It also mixed round and square tiers for a very unique, architectural and modern look.

The second was a smaller cake with small dried flowers – orange blooms that married perfectly the beige and chocolate colour of the cake. I shaped it in a very unusual way – with a smaller tier on the bottom, to keep it small and intimate, with an elopement feel, and keep it thin. This wedding took place at the Cherry Barn, in Kent.

  • A modern and pink wedding

The dried ferns I used on the wedding cake on the right were a perfect compliment to the pinks I used to paint the cake with. Their brown tone brought warmth to the cake and matched perfectly with the slightly terracotta silk runner I used to style this beautiful and delicious dessert table. This photo was taken at the Giraffe Shed, in Wales.

  • A boho wedding cake with dried flowers

I created this wedding cake for a boho London wedding – perfect for a couple having a city wedding but still want a bohemian touch. The combination of the floating top tier and the dried flower spray is what makes this cake unique and modern

I hope these cakes have convinced you that dried flowers on wedding cakes are absolutely stunning and perfect for modern and unique weddings, whether London and city weddings, or countryside barn weddings.
